Life isn't always easy when your best friend has the rare genetic disease, Ataxia Telangiectasia, but Maddy Maurice rises to the challenge each and every day. Maddy is always there for Kate Veldink, her friend who has A.T. Whether she is helping her walk, providing emotional support, or making her laugh, Maddy helps Kate shine. The two girls have a special, unique friendship. They truly understand each other. Their friendship is a blessing from God.

When Maddy found out that the Veldinks weren't holding their annual Mini-Marathon fundraiser, she knew she had to do something to raise money and awareness for A-T. With the help of her mom and some other friends, Maddy organized and planned a talent show showcase for elementary students in Jenison, Michigan. The event was a lot of work. Maddy had to meet with teachers, local business owners, and even the superintendent! Maddy successfully explained why raising money for A-T Research was so important to her and her friend Kate. Her hard work paid off! Kidz Got Talent raised over $8,000.00 for the A-T Children's Project.

Maddy's creativeness, friendship, and hard work is an inspiration to us all. It is amazing what an eleven year old can do when she is passionate about a cause! Way to go, Maddy!
